Haftlingspersonalbogen (prisoner registration forms)

from Auschwitz concentration camp, May 1942 - Oct. 1944

Contains Haftlingspersonalbogen (prisoner registration forms) 1 through 331 for female prisoners at the women's camp at Auschwitz and Haftlingspersonalbogen 1 through 4,500 for male prisoners at the Auschwitz main camp. Each of the Häftlingspersonalbogen contains information about a particular Jew brought to Auschwitz from one of a number of locations in Europe, such as date of birth, place of birth, marital status, date of arrest, date of entry into the camp, nationality, occupation, religion, race, and physical appearance. Also included is information about use of prisoners for labor; prisoners transferred from Majdanek; and divisions of the Reichssicherheitshauptamt making arrests of Jews to be sent to Auschwitz. The bulk dates for the creation of the forms range from May 1943 to Oct 1944.

Officials of Auschwitz concentration camp created the Haftlingspersonalbogen May 1942 to Oct 1944. Microfilm copies of the forms were created in 1992 and 1993. The archives of the State Museum of Auschwitz filmed the registration forms for the Archives of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in 1993.

I did a search for Pruzana and came up with 338 names. (Pruzhany/ Pruzany yielded no response). As mentioned in the history of Pruzany, within four days (Jan. 30, 1943 - Feb. 2, 1943) the Pruzhany Ghetto was liquidated. The ghetto had 10,000 people. 2,500 people each day were sent on transports to Auschwitz. These forms were filled out by a german soldier with the Jewish prisoner standing in front of him and answering the questions. According to the President of the Israeli Pruzhany Society, Mr. Yitzchak Zutta, the people often said that their age was younger or older then it truely was, in order to give a better impression of a good worker (so don't go using this for an "age" source) . The occupations also many times were made up in order to hopefully choose something useful that would allow the prisoner to live a little longer. An added value in this information is, the names of the Prisoner's parents and well as wife's name if the prisoner was married. The information is not 100% correct but I think it is very interesting !!!! (Jay Lenefsky)

A big thank you goes to CPSA member, Paul Ginsburg. Paul took the information from the 338 records and put it all into a table format. By doing this Paul has given us greater access to the information listed. Now for example, it is possible to easily see the parents (father , mother and mother's maiden name) name and well as a spouse (if to was applicable).

Here is the information of 338 (out of 10,000) residents of the Pruzany Ghetto transported to Auschwitz
